Wouldn’t recommend coasting with the engine off. Some bikes it ok to but I believe the gold wing needs to be running because the transmission only gets lubricant when it’s running. I could be wrong be you should look into it. Could save you a tranny. Ohh by the way congratulations on the goldwing. Awesome machine.

I just want to point out to those of you who think the CT125 is weird. 100 million bikes, Honda and it's licensed clones have made over 100 million of all models and types/displacement, step through motorcycles that some consider a "Moped". Here's some Specs for you for the 1967 Honda Trail 90 the original K0 model.. Weight: 205 pounds, 17" x 2.75" wheels/tires, OHC 89 cc engine that makes 7.3 H.P., ( not really that far off from the present Honda 125....) with a four speed semi automatic transmission with a dual range sub transmission. Big chrome rear rack for hauling stuff, used the same aircleaner with snorkel the old C-100 50cc Supercub used. Front and rear hand brakes so you could duck waddle while crawling through some tight tricky crevice. The bike was a big hit here in the 1960's and 70's, I owned 4 of them! There's nothing really weird about them, for many older Americans they personified off road motorcyling, Everyone knows what they are and likes them. The "half ways shifter neutral" is a foot actuated manual clutch function that Honda has had in their step-throughs since their first C-100. It disconnects the clutch when you press the foot shifter with the engine revved above the automatic clutch's engagement point, it to keep the transmission from jolting when you're changing into a different gear.

The original CT90 with the dual range gearbox would climb any grade from a standstill as long as it had traction. The gearing was so low as to be ridiculous. If Honda had put the hi/lo gear set up on the new CT125 I suspect they would have sold a whole shitload more of them than they did.

It's Great that Sam put in so much effort to make the Trail. I always thought that it went through Private Land too. Here in Michigan every year it's hard to get Permission from enough Farmers to put together snowmobile trails. The Sate has funding to pay the Land owners that comes from the purchase of trail permits. Too many Riders go off trail and abuse their Privileges and access to that land gets denied and the trails have to be routed another way .

The Governments built in error of 35 feet. I was well aware of that because I spread lime for Farmers and GPS Guidance is great. I need accuracy of like 6". I did not spend the $3,000.00 on a GPS guidance system for several years because I could not justify paying way more money to correct that 35' error. If the enemy is using the USA GPS to guide a Missile with a Nuclear bomb in it , I don't think 35 feet will make much difference.

What a great story. Mine started in 1963, then it was pushrods, leading link front forks and two rear sprocket (road/trail). At 15 I had not fully understood the word uncomfortable but was working hard on figuring out the concept of fun. After three Honda 90s, one 110 and one 125 Grom that I converted into a Monkey. Now the Monkey seat can make riding in a rock garden feel like floating on a cloud. Bullet proof everyone, but once I reach voting age, suspension was always the dark cloud for me. Around town, the best rig hands down, though more than 20 miles off pavement generally required a visit to the Chiropractor to put things right again. Honda really knows how to lead us down the primrose path.

Hey Ang, Your Tennessee neighbor here. Been on all the roads you covered in this video, well mostly. I have had a 2012 Vstrom DL 650ABS for going on 9 years. I noticed all kinds of ghost noises when I first started riding it. Actually a couple of them got into my head big time. As time and milage went by, I learned the ghost were characteristic of a Suzuki 90 degree engine and transmission. 17,000 miles later the ghost are still there. Go figure. Our minds do mess with us don't they..

Love the wing! I went to a launch party for the redesign they did back in 2018 at the dealership in Knoxville. I'm your age, and I was the youngest guy there. We are in that demo now, lol. They had an 80's music trivia contest, and it was totally lost on this crowd. I came close to buying the 2018. It was by far superior to everything out there for touring except for maybe the BMW K1600. I was influenced by a YT video of 2 guys touring on a Harley and and Indian, when one of them said, "there is something cool about riding across American on an American motorcycle." And the coolness factor won out over the technical superiority. On motorcycle stereos, I went from a sport bike, to a lower end cruiser with no wind protection, to a big bagger with a faring and nice sound system. Leading up to bringing it home and my first couple of rides, I had still intended to use the bluetooth in my helmet for tunes. I thought bikes jamming out were annoying and ridiculous, and that it couldn't sound that good at speed. That opinion changed quickly. I still turn it down or pause at stops; otherwise, I'm jamming! Moral of this story, don't knock it until you try it.
